Carson City arrests: Two jailed on stolen vehicle charges, two for domestic battery

Carson City sheriff’s deputies arrested two men in separate alleged stolen vehicle incidents on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Two men were also arrested in separate incidents for alleged domestic battery offenses.

A 65-year-old Mound House man, Gregory David Gorsuch, was arrested Tuesday 10:20 p.m. in the area of Golden Eagle Lane and Snyder Avenue for suspicion of felony grand larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance.

According to the arrest report, a deputy was called to the area Tuesday at 9:42 p.m. for a report of a vehicle dumping trash. The deputy observed a gray van with an Iowa license plate on the front bumper. The deputy did a registration check on the vehicle and was advised the plate was reported stolen, the arrest report states.

The deputy observed Gorsuch was in the driver’s seat of the vehicle and had him exit the vehicle where he was detained in cuffs. The deputy conducted a wants and warrant check on the vehicle using the VIN number and was advised the vehicle was reported stolen out of Reno.

Gorsuch was taken to Carson City jail. During the intake search a deputy located a a small baggie with .9 gram of methamphetamine in the man’s front coin pocket of his pants. Bail: $27,500.

— Patrick Turrentine, 53, of Carson City, was arrested for suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle at 2:54 a.m. Wednesday in the 3500 block of Market Street.

According to the booking report, deputies were called to a casino regarding a vehicle that had been stolen from a nearby gas station. The reporting party described the suspect as having pulled into the parking lot in a green Volkswagen and it was parked facing Walmart.

Deputies arrived and saw a male subject matching the description given by the reporting party. The man was walking toward the vehicle and when he noticed the patrol vehicle he turned around and began walking in the opposite direction, the arrest report states.

The officer made contact with Turrentine and asked what he was doing. The man said he had come out of the casino to smoke a cigarette. The deputy asked him if he had made some statements about stealing a vehicle.

The man told the deputy that his son had stolen a vehicle and had left it somewhere in the area, the arrest report states. The deputy asked the man if he knew which vehicle was stolen. The man said he did not know.

The deputy then walked toward the Volkswagen and noticed it did not have plates and the engine compartment was warm to the touch. The doors were unlocked and the officer did not see any keys inside the vehicle. The officer checked the vehicle VIN number and it returned clear.

As the investigation continued, the deputy spoke with the reporting party who said they saw the suspect pull into the parking lot driving the car and that he was the only person driving it and said that the man told him he and his son had stolen the car from a gas station.

The deputy contacted the owner of the gas station who was not aware that his Volkswagen had been stolen from his dealer lot. The owner said he did not give permission to anyone to take the vehicle and wished to pursue charges. Bail: $25,000.
