Carson City man dies in Highway 50 crash involving horse east of Silver Springs
The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified a Carson City man who died in a crash involving a feral horse early Saturday morning on Highway 50 east of Silver Springs.
Andrew Woods Corbin, 26, of Carson City died from injuries after being ejected from the 1998 Ford Explorer he was driving, said NHP Trooper Dan Gordon.
Troopers were called to the scene of the crash at approximately 12:44 a.m. The preliminary Investigation indicates that the 1998 Maroon Ford Explorer driven by Corbin was traveling westbound when it struck the feral horse in the roadway.
Corbin attempted to avoid the horse, but overcorrected the vehicle causing him to lose control, according to the preliminary crash investigation. The horse was killed in the accident.
The Ford Explorer began to rollover causing the unrestrained driver to be ejected from the vehicle. Corbin was flown via CareFlight to a hospital in Reno where he later died.
