Candy Dance returns to Genoa this weekend, celebrating 50 years of the Craft Faire
The 2024 Genoa Candy Dance takes place September 28 and 29. This two-day event, which boasts over 400 arts and crafts, activity, and food vendors, plus a Saturday night Dinner Dance, draws thousands of people to Genoa.
Booths are open from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Pro Tips
Bring cash! While there will be ATMs, lines can be long.
Please leave dogs at home.
Where to park
Public parking is available for $10 at three lots: Genoa Lane, Foothill Lane; and the Genoa Cemetery on Jacks Valley Road. Parking opens at 7 a.m. each day. Free shuttles run between the parking lots and the faire between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.; (the shuttle from Genoa Lane will start running at 6:30 a.m. for the vendors.)
Coming south from Carson City: We recommend the Genoa Lane lot, which is the biggest lot. Turn right from 395 on to Genoa Lane.
Coming from Minden/Gardnerville: Take Muller Lane to Foothill Lane, and turn north on Foothill heading toward Genoa.
Genoa Cemetery Parking Lot/Jacks Valley Road: This is our smallest parking lot, and is usually full by 10 a.m. on Saturday. We highly recommend using the Genoa Lane lot instead.
Quick History
The original Genoa Candy Dance and Dinner fundraiser in 1919 was held by the ladies of the town to pay for the purchase of street lights for Genoa. After the lights were purchased, it became necessary to continue the fundraising to cover the cost of the electricity, and in 1974 the Arts & Crafts Faire was added to the event. The Genoa Candy Dance tradition continues to support the Town of Genoa today. Just as it was a hundred years ago, today's event is made possible through the invaluable efforts of volunteers and the enthusiastic support of everyone who attends.
