Carson City sheriff's log: Bookings include drug, DUI and providing false ID arrests
A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday in the area of Highway 50 and Russell Way for felony suspicion, possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor obstructing, possession of drug paraphernalia and a contempt of court warrant.
Hector Jose Escobar was arrested at 1:59 p.m. According to the arrest report, a deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle going 56 mph in a 35 mph zone.
The vehicle accelerated and eventually came to a stop. There were three in the vehicle, including the driver. Escobar was a passenger and had a case on his lap. The arresting deputy observed him stuffing plastic baggies and cash in his pockets. He was asked to stop several times and was ordered out of the vehicle, the report states.
He continued to hide evidence and was pulled from the vehicle, where he dropped several baggies to the ground. One of the baggies on the ground was found to have a small amount of suspected methamphetamine, the report states.
After a brief struggle he was cuffed and Mirandized. He requested his backpack be brought to detention with him as they were his, the report states. During a search through backpack deputies located a marijuana grinder, a scale, a marijuana pipe and more baggies.
Dispatch confirmed he had a contempt of court, failure to appear warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody for these violations and booked. While at the detention center he submitted to a preliminary breath test with a .122. Bail: $6,800.
In other arrests:
— A 58-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 7:04 a.m. in the 1600 block of Medical Parkway for a misdemeanor trespass citizens arrest. According to the arrest report, the man refused to leave the building after being asked to leave by hospital staff. Earlier in the evening he had been trespassed from a convenience store. Bail: $242.
— A 52-year-old man, Michael Troy Kever, was arrested Saturday, 4:49 p.m in the 1700 block of North Carson Street for felony suspicion of providing false ID to avoid prosecution, a felony contempt of court warrant and a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant. According to the arrest report, the man appeared to be under the influence of drugs in a motel parking lot. A deputy asked the man his name and date of birth. The man had difficulty providing the information, the arrest report states.
The deputy asked the man for consent to search with a canine. The man agreed. Suspecting the man was not telling the truth about his identity, the deputy asked dispatch for a photo on file of the man. The photo and mail found in the vehicle confirmed the man wasn’t telling the truth, the report states.
Dispatch confirmed the warrants and the man then provided deputies with his real identity. Bail: $43,000.
— A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 7:36 a.m. in the 500 block of East William Street for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and not have a valid driver’s license.
Deputies were dispatched to a grocery store parking lot regarding a subject that may have been having a medical issue.
Deputies arrived on scene and saw a vehicle running. The driver had his seat belt on and the seat was in an upright position. Deputies knocked on the window and the man did not respond. Deputies oped the door and were able to wake up the man.
A computer records check returned that he did not have a valid license.
He smelled strongly of alcohol and was asked to step out of the vehicle. He was unsteady on his feet and swayed while standing. He submitted to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .172 and was arrested. At jail he provided evidentiary tests of .179 and .161. Bail: $1,329.
— A 51-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 11:55 p.m. for two misdemeanor failure to appear warrants issued out of Douglas County Justice Court and East Fork Township. He also faces a charge of a tail lamp violation. Bail: $2,356.
