NASA Astronaut José Hernández to inspire Carson City students, celebrate potential
The Carson City School District Multilingual Learner Vision Team invites students and families to “Aim for the Stars” with an evening of inspiration as former NASA Astronaut and Engineer José Hernández shares his extraordinary journey that lead him to reach the highest heights.
This inspiring event, to be held Thursday, Oct. 3, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Tech Center at Carson High School, aims to encourage all students to dream big and recognize their limitless possibilities.
Dr. José Hernández, whose life story is the subject of the film A Million Miles Away, will share his experience in successfully overcoming barriers as he persevered in achieving his dream of traveling to space. His story of resilience and determination serves as a powerful reminder that every student has the potential to achieve greatness, regardless of their circumstances.
“Dr. Hernández’s journey embodies the spirit of perseverance and the importance of education,” said Dr. Tanya Scott, director of English Learning and Pre-K Programming. “We are excited for our students to hear his story and be inspired to pursue their own dreams.”
The event will feature a keynote presentation by Hernández intended to foster creativity, critical thinking and collaboration. Following his presentation, students may engage directly with the astronaut with a Question and Answer session. The presentation will be provided in English and Spanish. Doors will open as early as 6 p.m.
“This event is not just about inspiring our students, it’s about empowering them to see the endless possibilities in their own futures, reminding us all that anything is possible, including touching the stars” Dr. Scott added.
The “Aim for the Stars” event is open to all students, parents and community members. The Carson City School District encourages everyone to join them for an unforgettable experience that celebrates ambition, hard work and the pursuit of dreams.
