Debbie enjoys working with books as her medium as it focuses on not only recycling, repurposing into art but also shares the love of literature and books for all to enjoy. Turning these timeless classic novels, bestsellers and once loved an honored books, the sculptures are brought to life through their pages from within as they are folded and molded into “one of a kind” beautiful art. This unique art form www.MyThousandWords.com has been featured in several media publications PBS ArtEffects, Tahoe Magazine, Nevada Magazine, Renown, Clark County, Reno’s Artown and more.

Her unique works of art are in galleries all over the country both personal and corporate. She enjoys traveling with her husband David and her two pugs, teaching book sculpting methods, recycling to all ages. Her art is very pronounced in So. Nevada and California as she is in several galleries. Her works of art range from several inches tall to several feet high, enjoying the new world of public art that features paper that can with stand the elements of nature.

Lia Verkade is a Netherlands native and came to the US with her husband in 1999. As an artist of several art mediums, she has enjoyed teaching classes in landscapes, birds and flowers. In 2013, she discovered Zentangle, a form of artistic meditation through a very specific method of deliberate intention that produces non-objective drawings composed of patterns (tangles) that can be viewed from all four sides. Zentangle is about the process and not the outcome. Lia is presenting several of her works with embellishments to enhance the final piece.

Nevada Artists Association is located at 449 W. King Street, Carson City.
