More than 40 employers expected at Friday's job fair at the Carson City Community Center
A job readiness seminar, hosted by the Carson City Health and Human Services Workforce Program, is being held in advance of Friday's job fair at the community center.
The seminar continues Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 900 E. Long Street in Carson City. The event is free, open to anyone and features skill-building presentations designed to improve employability with enhanced tools and techniques, said ," said CCHHS Workforce Program Manager Ana Gregg.
Seminar presenters include area employers and resource providers. The Job Readiness Seminar precludes the year's second of two annual CCHHS-sponsored Job Fairs, held this Friday, Sept. 23, from 2-4 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street.
CCHHS said more than 40 employers are hiring. Dozens will be accepting applications and/or resumes, and even interviewing on the spot at the job fair.
The last job fair in February attracted a few hundred job seekers, Gregg said, including a few dozen military veterans.
She said Friday's event is expected to draw as much attention.
"We would like to see more veterans," Gregg said.
Early admission for military veterans starts at 1:30 p.m.
Applicants are encouraged to come prepared and dressed for success, CCHHS said.
