South Lake Tahoe man identified as pedestrian in fatal crash near Gardnerville on Highway 395
The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified a South Lake Tahoe man as the pedestrian who died Sunday night in a vehicle accident on Highway 395 and Industrial Way in Gardnerville.
Rosendo Ramirez Amaya, 54, died of injuries he sustained in the collision involving a 1998 Toyota Sienna minivan, said NHP Trooper Dan Gordon.
On Sunday, September 17, 2017 at approximately 8:05 p.m., NHP troopers respond to US395 near Industrial Way in Gardnerville for a serious injury crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Preliminary investigation shows that a white 1998 Toyota Sienna minivan was traveling northbound in the right lane on US395/Industrial Way. For an unknown reason, a pedestrian was lying down across the right lane of northbound US395. The driver of the Toyota van was unable to avoid the pedestrian and traveled over top of him.
The driver of the Toyota pulled over immediately, called 911, and waited for emergency responders to arrive on scene. The pedestrian, Rosendo Ramirez Amaya, succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the collision.
Trooper Doug Hildebrand of the Nevada Highway Patrol’s Multi-disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.) is investigating this crash.
