Carson City sheriff's deputies make felony fugitive from justice, check fraud arrests
A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday in the 1800 block of North Edmonds for a felony fugitive from justice warrant issued in California.
Dale Joseph Chapman was arrested at 8:18 a.m. following a report of a non-injury vehicle accident that happened in a parking lot. The man identified himself with a California identification card that came back via dispatch with the warrant issued March 27, 2017 out of Superior Court in Placer County. Bail: $35,000.
In other arrests:
— A 30-year-old Reno man, William Joseph Stockwell, was arrested Thursday, 6:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of Tara Street for felony suspicion of uttering a forged instrument. According to the arrest report the man allegedly cashed a $970 check at a check cashing business that turned out to be fraudulent. Bail: $5,000.
— A 67-year-old South Lake Tahoe man was arrested early Friday morning for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrant, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Bruce Gary Kasper was arrested at 5:01 a.m. in the 2200 block of East William Street. According for the arrest report, he was stopped by a deputy for jaywalking across William Street from a casino without using a crosswalk.
The man gave the deputy his identification card and driver’s license which returned for an active warrant out of Carson City Justice court with a $3,000 cash only bail. He was arrested. During pre-booking at jail deputies located a small white baggie containing methamphetamine. Bail: $5,637.
— A 23-year-old Sun Valley man, Jordan Christopher Zico, was arrested Thursday, 11:42 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Edmonds for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, and three misdemeanors: possession of drug paraphernalia, no proof of insurance and driving on a suspended registration.
Also arrested was a 22-year-old woman, Nicole Joy Sandau, for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the arrest report, a deputy with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team made a traffic stop on a vehicle after its registration returned as suspended.
The deputy spoke with the driver who said he did not have insurance or registration for the vehicle. He handed the deputy his license and observed a needle cap on the floor next to the driver’s seat.
The deputy requested assistance. A canine did an exterior sniff of the car and alerted positive. In the glove box deputies located a loaded needle that tested positive for meth. Also located were needles, cotton balls, tins and tourniquets and a baggie of meth. Bail for Zico: $4,486. Bail for Sandau: $3,637.
— Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team deputies arrested two Thursday, Travis James West and Brenda Maxine Sisk, at 7:41 p.m. in the area of Fifth Street and Linda Kay Court for felony suspicion of methamphetamine possession. According to the arrest report, deputies made a traffic stop on a vehicle with Texas license plate that returned as expired.
The male driver identified himself with a Nevada identification card. He could not provide proof of insurance. A check through dispatch confirmed his license was suspended indefinitely for multiple violations of driving on a suspended license, the arrest report states.
A canine sniff was done on the exterior of the vehicle and the dog alerted positive. Deputies located a cigarette box with a baggie of methamphetamine inside. West faces charges of possession of a methamphetamine, driving with a suspended license, no proof of insurance, and driving in an unregistered vehicle and violation of a suspended sentence. Bail: $3,986. Sisk faces a charge of felony suspicion of meth possession. Bail: $2,500.
— A 42-year-old transient, Nicole Virginia Hoxsie, was arrested Thursday, 9:49 p.m. in the area of Sage and Lone Mountain for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and gross misdemeanor possession of a prescription drug without a prescription. During the investigation deputies found a small blue baggie with black tar heroin, a small baggie of marijuana and a hydrocodone tablet. Bail: $5,000.
