Carson City sheriff's arrest log for Tuesday

A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday on a felony charge of parole violation and misdemeanor charges of petit larceny after allegedly taking clothing and a watch from two department stores, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Shawn Anderson was booked into jail at 6:38 p.m. without bail awaiting a hearing for the parole violation charge. According to the arrest report, Anderson was stopped outside of Kohl’s by loss prevention after being seen leaving the store with a shirt. Anderson threw the shirt at the security officer and took off running, leaving his getaway vehicle.

Several items of clothing were found in the vehicle with tags still on them. Officers contacted the car’s owner, who confirmed Anderson was in possession of the vehicle. A cell phone number of the man was provided and deputies left a message.

A few minutes later Anderson called back and asked for leniency in return. He was read his Miranda rights and spoke, saying that he stole clothing, and a watch because times were tight and he had just got out of prison a few months earlier. The watch, which the man said he threw while running, wasn’t found after a search. Bail for the petit larceny charges: $704.

In other arrests:
— A 22-year-old Carson City man, Corey Alan Madieros, was arrested Monday on a felony parole violation charge. Officers patrolling the area saw the man driving, and knew he was on parole, was under supervision for burglary and was on supervision through the Nevada Department of Parole and Probation.

Officers attempted to talk to Madieros, who exited the vehicle before the officer could speak with him. The officer saw an unopened 18-pack of Bud Light in the front seat of the car. Madieros is not permitted to possess alcohol under terms of his probation.

Nevada Parole and Probation was advised and they requested he be arrested for violation of his parole. He was jailed without bail awaiting a parole and probation hearing.

A 40-year-old Carson City man, Jesse Carl McGuire, was arrested Monday, 4:15 p.m. in the 2700 block of Highway 50 East on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance, gross misdemeanor possession of a prescription drug without a prescription and misdemeanor driving on a suspended license and violation of a suspended sentence.

According to the arrest report, the man was stopped while driving a vehicle with suspended license plates. The officer asked the man for registration and insurance. The man told the officer that his California license was suspended, which was confirmed through dispatch. He also had a November 2007 warrant for his arrest.
McGuire was arrested and vehicle impounded. An inventory of the vehicle was done where a pouch with six hydrocodone pills were found. Bail: $8,612.

— A 55-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 3:01 a.m. in the 3700 block of South Carson Street on a misdemeanor charge of DUI. According to the arrest report, officers were called to a grocery store in reference to a man who had been driving and was seen exiting his vehicle and falling into a thorn bush.

The arriving officer observed the man face down in the parking lot, wearing a t-shirt and pajama bottoms. The officer approached the man and asked if he was OK. The man rolled over and said: “No, I’m drunk,” the arrest report states.

The man, who smelled strongly of alcohol, had a laceration on his forehead with blood running into his eyes and was unable to stand.

Officers spoke with two separate witnesses who observe the man drive into the parking lot of the grocery store, get out and attempted to open the locked door. He then fell face first into a thorn bush and crawled into the parking lot. He blew a .27 preliminary breath test and was taken to jail.

— A 22-year-old Reno woman was arrested Monday, 12:07 p.m. in the area of Fairview and South Lompa Lane on misdemeanor charges of suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, marijuana possession and speeding.

According to the arrest report, an officer stopped the woman who was driving 45 mph in a 35 mph zone. Upon contact,t he officer could smell a strong odor of marijuana. The officer asked if there was marijuana in the vehicle.

The woman said there was some in the car the previous day but didn’t think there was any at the time of being stopped. The officer asked the woman if he could look in the vehicle and the woman declined. The officer asked dispatch to have a K9 respond, in which he located a small baggie of marijuana. The officer asked when he last time she used marijuana, and she said around 10 a.m. The officer asked the woman if she would participate in field sobriety tests. The woman agreed and showed signs of impairment. Bail: $1,966.

— A 26-year-old Carson City woman was turned herself into jail authorities Monday on a misdemeanor warrant issued Aug. 14, 2014 for contempt of court. Bail: $500.
— A 20-year-old Reno man was booked Monday into Carson City Jail on a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant. Bail; $215.

— A 30-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Monday, 2:21 p.m. on a misdemeanor warrant, failure to appear in traffic court, issued June 12, 2014. Bail; $795.

— A 43-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail on a misdemeanor warrant, possession of stolen property, issued Sept. 12, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $2,000.

— A 51-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 11:41 p.m. in the 1900 block of North Carson Street on a misdemeanor warrant on a charge of battery. Bail: $2,000.

— A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 8:54 p.m. in the area of Rand and East William Street on misdemeanor charges of violation of court supervision and being a minor consuming alcohol. He was stopped while riding a bicycle southbound on Rand Avenue without a headlight or taillight. Bail: $737.

— A 50-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday, 11:33 p.m. in the 1900 block of North Carson Street on a charge of being an intoxicated pedestrian. According to the arrest report, officers responded to the area of a motel in reference to a naked woman walking around.

On arrival the officer observed a woman standing in the No. 1 travel lane northbound, waving her arms up and down. The woman was wearing only a t-shirt. An deputy spoke with the woman, who began swearing and flipped him the finger, the arrest report states. She submitted to a preliminary breath test with a result of .238 and was arrested. Bail: $192.

Those arrested and facing criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

UPDATE 6 p.m.: Courtesy of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office: On May 3, 2024 at approximately 1430 hours, Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputies responded along with Central Lyon County, Carson City and Storey County Fire personnel to the area of 34 Newman Ln. for a report of motorhome on fire. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the fire had spread and multiple other abandoned vehicles caught fire as well. No one was hurt or injured during the incident. The incident is currently under investigation, which is being conducted by the Nevada State Fire Marshall’s Division.

UPDATE 2:38 p.m.: Firefighters from Storey are also now responding.

UPDATE 2:33 p.m.: Multiple vehicles on the property are engulfed in flame.

Around 2:15 p.m. a fire was reported at 34 Newman Lane in Mound House.

Firefighters from Carson City and Lyon County are enroute to the scene.

UPDATE 1:20 p.m.: According to Sheriff Ken Furlong, a student reported they saw a weapon. The incident was investigated and there was no weapon found. The lockdown has now been lifted and students are leaving the school.

UPDATE 1:15 p.m.: Update 05-03-24 at 1:15 p.m.
One student has reported an alleged weapon sighting. It has not been corroborated, but school officials and the sheriff’s office are investigating out an abundance of caution.

UPDATE 12:50 p.m.: The following update was provided by the district:

Carson High School was put on lockdown this afternoon around 12:15 p.m. No person was injured. There is an active situation being investigated in cooperation with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office. We will provide more information as it becomes known. The school is secure. Do not go to the school. No entrances will be permitted at time. The district will provide updates every 30 minutes. Expect the next update at 1:15 p.m.

Carson High School is currently on a lockdown as of 12:40 p.m. Friday, but there has been no incident reported according to Sheriff Ken Furlong.

Carson City’s former Board of Supervisor and business owner Stan Jones was posthumously awarded Thursday the Historic Preservation Award for his long time work for downtown Carson City.

The Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial is today, Thursday, May 2 at the Nevada State Capitol in Carson City. The memorial brings hundreds to the capitol grounds. The ceremony begins at 1 p.m.

Douglas County Sheriff's Office arrested three for their alleged involvement in business thefts last month on Topsy Lane south of Carson City.

In total, 38 of those students earned 74 “Top-10” placements in 30 separate events. Additionally, three CHS FBLA students took state with first-place finishes and 15 of them qualified for the National Business Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla. this coming June.
