Douglas County Sheriff's Office: 2 children abducted by father are safe; Amber Alert canceled
UPDATE 9:36PM: Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has canceled the Amber Alert on Hailey Valdez, age 4 and Lucas Valdez, age 2.
The children were returned to their custodial grandparents by a friend. The children are now safe and unharmed. The suspects are still at large.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office issued an Amber Alert Monday night for two children. The biological father lost custodial rights to his two children and took them from his parents, assaulting his mother in the process.
At 5:11 p.m., the suspect, Dason Valdez, 29, entered his parent’s residence located in the Jacks Valley area of Northern Douglas County and physically removed his two children after committing domestic battery on his mother. He left with his children in a white 2000 Mazda 4-door Protégé that did not have license plates, had rear damage and a tail light out.
The two children, Hailey Valdez, age 4, is a white female juvenile, 3 feet tall, 30 pounds, with dirty blonde hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a purple top with ruffled sleeves and purple pants.
The second child is Lucas Valdez, age 2, is a white male juvenile, 2 feet tall and 20 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt. He has dirty blonde hair and brown eyes.
The suspect, Valdez is a white male adult, five foot seven inches, 165 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He has a full length beard.
The suspect was accompanied by a female, Krystal Reid, 27, a caucasian woman, five feet four inches tall, 130 pounds with brown hair and green eyes.
The children were placed into a White 2000 Mazda 4 door Protégé. The vehicle did not have any license plates.
The direction of travel from the residence is unknown. It is unknown where the suspects may be going. The suspects are homeless.
