Annual Sept. 11 Memorial to occur Saturday in Carson City's Mills Park
This year marks the 20th year since the attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, resulting in the deaths of 2,977 civilians, firefighters and emergency personnel, and the injury of over 6,000 people.
Each year on Sept. 11, an event is held at Mills Park in front of the 9/11 memorial, to honor those who were lost. The memorial, installed in 2013, consists of a steel beam which was taken from the debris of the World Trade Center.
Mayor Lori Bagwell and the Carson City Board of Supervisors proclaimed Sept. 11, 2021 to be “9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance.”
The memorial will begin at 9 a.m. at the 9/11 Memorial Site in Mills Park, located at 1111 E. William Street near the Seely Loop.
