Carson City Fire Department sends brush unit to Hungry Fire north of Reno
UPDATE TUESDAY: The Hungry Fire burning north of Reno in the Spanish Springs area is around 300 acres and is 5 percent contained, according to incident command on Tuesday morning. Around 125 firefighting personnel are working the fire, which began Monday afternoon.

Carson City Fire Department has sent a brush unit to the Hungry Valley fire that started Monday afternoon in the Spanish Springs area north of Reno. Multiple fire agencies have been called to help fight the fire, which started around 1 p.m. and is burning in the hills east of the Hungry Valley Colony.
Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District reports the fire remains active and there are no structures threatened at this time. Progress is being made by air attack, according to a Truckee Meadows fire tweet. As of 4 p.m. the fire had burned 180 acres, according to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center.
Crews are mobilizing, however, to provide structure protection in the Pebble Creek community as a precaution. There wasn't a containment at the time of the 3:25 p.m. Truckee Meadows Fire report.
