Sierra Lutheran Falcons start regular season strong
The Sierra Lutheran Falcons are off to a solid start on the season, with a pair of wins from the girls varsity and junior varsity volleyball squads and a first place finish from the girls golf team.
Sierra Lutheran’s JV volleyball team won its first non-conference matchup against Mineral County on Friday. The Hawks won both sets 25-18 and 25-20.
“Everyone played extremely well,” Coach Sylvia Antonucci said. “Our serving was strong, we were passing well and the teamwork was outstanding. It was wonderful to watch the girls come together as a team, encouraging and supporting one another from the court and sidelines.”
The girls varsity volleyball team defeated Mineral County in four sets on Friday with scores of 25-21, 25-20 and 26-24 in the fourth set.
Several players from Sierra Lutheran stuffed the stat sheet in the win.
Annalyn Mueller had four kills and seven assists. Breanna Wiles had four points, 17 receptions and two digs. Kati Boogman had 11 points, nine receptions, two digs and six kills. Kayla Steel had five points, five receptions and two kills. Lauren Rowlatt had five points, three kills and seven assists. Rosalie Antonucci had 14 points, six aces, eight receptions and three kills.
The Hawks girls golf team placed first at Incline Village on Thursday with a total score of 199. Junior Elia Keating-McEllisterm finished third with a score of 44.
