Toastmasters Annual Area 22 Speech Contest
The best speakers in the Carson City area will be chosen Saturday September 18, when three local Toastmasters clubs conduct the annual Area 22, Division B, District 39 speech contest.
The event will be conducted at 1301 Old Hot Springs Road, beginning at 10:00am, and the public is invited. The winner will be chosen from among 6 contestants for the Table Topics contest and 6 for the Humorous Speech contest. The winners of these contests will go on and compete in the Division B contest in Reno on October the 2nd.
Participating in the Table Topics contest will be Chris Wahle and Ron Kendall from Capital Nevada Toastmasters, Shellee Martin and Tom Nelson from Carson Communicators Toastmasters, Del Snider and Sena Loyd from Kit Carson Toastmasters.
Participating in the Humorous Speech contest will be Chris Wahle and Cathy French from Capital Nevada Toastmasters, Bill Inman and David Nelson from Carson Communicators Toastmasters, Christina Slade and Chris Utley from Kit Carson Toastmasters. Each of these speakers advanced to the area-wide event by winning their club’s table topics or speech contest.
Joseph Spencer, Area 22 governor will be the contest chair and Jim Ishoy will be the chief judge. The three Carson City clubs are among more than 11,700 Toastmasters clubs around the world participating in speech contests this month. The winners of the Division B contest will then compete this November at the Fall Convention for District 39.
