Nevada State Police identify victim in single vehicle fatal crash on US-50 in Churchill County
Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol Division has identified a Wyoming woman who died August 19 in a fatal crash on US-50 in Churchill County.
Abigale Lynn Morrison, 25, from Riverton, Wyo., sustained fatal injuries in the crash and died at the scene near mile marker 70, according to Nevada State Police in a news release.
A NSP preliminary investigation says that a blue 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup was traveling westbound on US-50 in the area of mile marker 70. For unknown reasons, the vehicle left the travel lane and entered into the westbound dirt shoulder.
The driver, Morrison, over corrected and crossed the yellow dashed center line into the eastbound travel lane of US50. The vehicle then began to rotate clockwise and ultimately exited the roadway surface on the right dirt shoulder of the eastbound lane and overturned. Morrison and an adult male passenger were ejected from the vehicle, according to NSP.
The passenger was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Northern Command West M.I.R.T (Multidisciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team) is investigating this crash.
This fatality marks the Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol, Northern Command West 32nd fatal crash, resulting in 35 fatalities for 2023.
