Carson City patrol vehicle involved in crash at William and Stewart
A Carson City sheriff's patrol vehicle was involved in a crash early Thursday evening at the intersection of William and Stewart Street.
Three vehicles were involved, including the sheriff's patrol vehicle. No serious injuries were reported and there wasn't a medical transport. The sheriff's deputy was being evaluated for injuries, said CCSO Sgt. Bill Richards. Traffic at the intersection was blocked and being diverted around the crash.
The crash happened minutes after a vehicle pursuit was called off for excessive speed in the area of Roop and Northridge, several blocks away.
That pursuit began shortly before 5 p.m. on South Carson Meadows and involved a Subaru that had plates belonging on a Mercedes. It was called off due to excessive vehicle speed, when the Subaru was going in excess of 40 mph, according to dispatch via scanner.
The investigation into the crash involving the deputy at Stewart and William is being conducted by the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Information regarding the Subaru involved in the pursuit was relayed to the Nevada Highway Patrol, Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Washoe County Sheriff's Office and Lyon County Sheriff's Office. Because the pursuit was called off due to safety reasons, the driver got away.
