Woman jailed on DUI, other charges after crashing car into motel wall
A 23-year-old Carson City woman was arrested at 9:22 p.m. in the 2800 block of South Carson Street on a felony charge of parole violation and three misdemeanor charges including driving under suspicion of drugs after she crashed her car into the wall of a motel, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Laura Reese-Dauer faces charges of first offense drug-related DUI, failure to maintain a lane of traffic and no proof of insurance, plus the felony probation violation. According to the arrest report, officers were called to a motel regarding an accident and found a vehicle that had run into a wall.
A witness stated he observed the vehicle fail to maintain a lane of traffic from Carson Street crossing Frontage Road, and went through a fence and into the parking lot of the motel, crashing into the wall of the building.
Officers met with the woman and recognized her from past contacts. She initially stated she had fallen asleep at the wheel, and then later stated she panicked and hit the gas instead of the brake. She was speaking slowly, with slurred speech and appeared disoriented. Her eyes were watery, bloodshot and pupils were dilated, the arrest report states.
The woman submitted to field sobriety tests, failing two out of four tests. A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper arrived on scene, spoke with the woman and stated he believed she was under the influence of narcotics. She was arrested. Dispatch advised she was on probation and that her probation officer wanted a felony no bail hold placed on her. Bail for the misdemeanor charges: $1,961.
In other arrests:
A 29-year-old transient, Jeffrey Stewart, was taken into custody Wednesday, 8:07 p.m. in the 400 block of North Carson Street on a felony charge of using false identification to avoid prosecution, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Officers conducting a business check at a local casino observed a man walk toward an officer and then quickly turned away. The man began playing a slot machine. The officer asked the man for identification. The man gave the officer a name, with a date of birth.
Officers knew the name the man gave from prior contacts and knew Stewart was lying, the arrest report states. Officers asked dispatch to check for wants on the name. Officers located Stewart’s Social Security card confirming his identity. Stewart admitted to officers that he used his deceased brother’s name and information. Bail: $5,000.
— A 35-year-old Carson City woman, Cara Nicole Feletar, was booked into jail Wednesday, 6 p.m. on a felony contempt of court warrant, violation of bail conditions, out of Carson City District Court issued August 25, 2014. She’s on a no bail hold pending a hearing.
— A 32-year-old Carson City man was arrested at 2:31 p.m. in the 100 block of Corbett Street on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge.
According to the arrest report the suspect allegedly pushed a woman while she was walking down the stairs and kicked a man in the back of the head. Bail: $3,137.
— A 66-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 6:27 p.m. in the 1100 block of South Roop Street on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.
According to the arrest report, a reporting witness said he saw a male and female arguing while driving a white 2011 Mini Cooper. The witness said the man grabbed the woman’s arms, shaking and yelling at her.
The officer interviewed the husband and wife, reviewed the totality of circumstances and arrested the man. Bail: $3,137.
— A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 9:43 p.m. in the 200 block of Jeanell Drive on three misdemeanor charges, a driving with out light, driving on a suspended licensed and a failure to appear warrant issued out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $924.
Those arrested and facing criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
