Man held for suspected attempted murder in stabbing Sunday at south Carson City residence
A Carson City man was arrested for suspicion of attempted murder, domestic battery with a deadly weapon, battery with substantial harm and being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm following a domestic incident on Sunday.
James Dillard Bricky, 41, was taken into custody at 6:27 p.m. Sunday. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the frontage road area near 3100 south Carson Street. The victim had been found running from her residence toward the frontage road by her landlord. She had suffered a stab wound to the neck and was covered in blood, the report states.
A first responding deputy arrived and spoke with the injured woman who stated her boyfriend, Bricky, had stabbed her in the neck and hit her on the head with a hammer. The deputy observed a puncture wound on the left side of the woman's neck and she was covered in blood. Paramedics took the woman by ambulance to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center. See story here.
Other patrol deputies arrived at the residence where they challenged Bricky to come out of the residence. He evidentially exited where he threw down a handgun. He was taken into custody. He stated he had tried to kill himself with the gun but the gun did not go off, the arrest report states.
Detectives interviewed the woman at the hospital who said he had never been violent in their relationship before and had been depressed, and smoking marijuana lately. She noticed he seemed agitated that day and attempted to calm him down.
At around 6 p.m. the victim said the suspect, Bricky, came from the kitchen area holding a serrated kitchen knife and a hammer. She stated he hit her with a knife, and she realized she was stabbed and was able to run out of the apartment. As she began to run out of the apartment the man hit her over the head with a hammer, she told investigators.
The detective observed what appeared to be stab wounds on both sides of her neck, left chest and arms and a lump on her head where it appeared she had been hit with the hammer. The victim stated that she felt the man was going to kill her.
A deputy met with the suspect in an interview room. The man said he had been hearing threatening voices and wanted to speak with an attorney. The interview ended, the arrest report states.
A search warrant of the property was applied for and subsequently granted by a Carson City Judge. Deputies located a black Ruger 9mm handgun on the grass, and later located five bullets in the grass. Deputies also located a large kitchen knife and a serrated steak knife that was bent and had blood on it. Deputies located a small 3 to 5 pound sledgehammer in a laundry basket, the handle of the hammer had what appeared to be blood on it. On the bed deputies observed a blue handgun box, a box of ammunition and a loose bullet.
The man was booked into Carson City Jail on the charges. Total bail amount listed: $140,000.
