Dirt bike rider suspected of hitting Douglas deputy with motorcycle in custody
A dirt bike rider suspected of striking a Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputy with his motorcycle has been located, arrested and charged with battery with a deadly weapon, resisting, obstructing and reckless driving.
On Tuesday, a Douglas County deputy stopped the suspect, later identified as Dakota Lowden, 20, in the sandpits area of the Gardnerville Ranchos.
When the officer contacted Lowden, the man fled, striking the deputy with his motorcycle.
With the assistance from members of the community, Lowden was located and arrested at an address on Townhouse Circle, according to the sheriff's office.
Lowden was charged with battery with a deadly weapon, resisting/obstructing and reckless driving. He was booked into the Douglas County Jail with a bail amount of $26,380.
