Several vehicles involved in pileup at Fairview and South Carson Street
UPDATE 6PM: Two people were taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries in a four-vehicle accident this afternoon at the intersection of Fairview and South Carson streets in Carson City, law officers said. The Nevada Highway Patrol is handling the investigation and thus far there have been no arrests.
The accident was called into dispatch at 4:21 p.m. and caused significant backup of vehicle traffic in both directions of Carson Street. As of 6 p.m. dispatch reports the northbound lane should be opening soon.

UPDATE 5:40PM: All southbound lanes on Carson Street are open, as are turn lanes however the northbound lane remains blocked at Colorado Street, according to dispatch.

UPDATE: Traffic is backed up for about a mile in both directions of Carson Street after a multi-vehicle accident this afternoon. At least one, possibly two people were taken by ambulance.
Traffic is being held at Fairview and Colorado streets, with one lane open for thru traffic. This is the second serious crash in Carson City today. This morning an 83-year-old woman died in a single vehicle rollover accident on Highway 50 East and Nye. The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital.

Carson City fire and rescue and sheriff's deputies were called Saturday afternoon to the southbound lane of Fairview and South Carson Street for a multi-vehicle accident with injuries.
Initial reports are there are up to 6 vehicles involved. Traffic is being re-directed around the accident, which was called into dispatch at 4:21 p.m. The Nevada Highway Patrol is also responding.
