Carson City arrests: Woman jailed for suspicion of felony mayhem

A 26-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday for suspicion of felony mayhem and misdemeanor second offense domestic battery, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Laura Reese-Dauer was taken into custody at 2:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Edmonds Drive.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched the area. While en route dispatch received a second 911 call from a witness stating two females were fighting outside.

As deputies arrived they made contact with the victim and suspect Reese-Dauer. The deputy was familiar with the suspect from prior law enforcement contacts. She told deputies the victim lived with her and was married to her brother. She had a strong smell of alcohol on her breath and had no marks or injuries. She blew a preliminary breath test of .233, the arrest report states.

The investigating deputy spoke with a witness who stated the suspect was punching the victim as the victim was trying to get away from her, the arrest report states.

Deputies spoke with the victim who stated the suspect thought a note she wrote was suicidal and wanted her to talk to a doctor. The victim denied being suicidal. The victim stated the suspect actively punched her in the face as she was trying to escape the residence and go to a neighbor’s house for safety.

The victim stated she was bitten on the face. The victim’s face was bleeding from her left cheek and will possibly have permanent disfigurement on her face from being bitten, the arrest report states.

The suspect was arrested for suspicion of felony mayhem and second offense domestic battery. She had a prior domestic battery conviction in November 2012 out of Carson City Justice Court.

In other arrests:
— A 35-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 5:44 p.m. in the area of Winnie and Lone Mountain streets for a misdemeanor warrant for failure to pay fines issued in November 2009 out of Reno Township Court. Bail: $490.

— A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Tuesday morning in the 200 block of David Street for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI, hit and run accident and failure to maintain a travel lane.

According to the arrest report, a deputy was dispatched to the area of Robinson and Roop streets for a report of a hit and run. Dispatch also advised the reporting party and witness to the accident was following a vehicle fleeing the scene. The vehicle later came to a stop at 210 David Street and the sole occupant of the vehicle ran into an apartment, the witness told deputies.

The deputy arrived at David Street and saw a 2003 Buick sedan park in front with significant damage to the right front of the vehicle and there was a large amount of smoke or steam coming from the engine area, the arrest report states.

The deputy made contact with a female standing at the doorway of the apartment. She said her son was driving the car and he was inside the apartment.

At the deputy’s request, the man’s mother instructed her son to come outside and speak. The reporting party and witness to the accident positively identified the man as the subject he saw exit the driver’s seat of the vehicle at David Street and the one who fled from the accident, the arrest report states.

The suspect told a deputy he was driving and said he thought he may have hit a curb. While speaking the deputy could smell a strong odor of alcohol on his person. His eyes were red, watery and his speech was slurred. When the officer asked the man if he had been drinking, the suspect replied “yes I drank a lot,” according to the arrest report.

He voluntarily and freely submitted to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. While speaking, the odor of alcohol became more apparent and overwhelming, the arrest report states. He nearly fell over and required the deputy’s assistance to walk from the front door area of his home. He unsatisfactorily completed all the field sobriety tests and provided a partial preliminary breath test with a .256.

Prior to arriving at jail the deputy read him the request for voluntary evidence. The suspect said he would allow a blood sample to be taken from his arm. At jail the man became argumentative and refused to provide a blood sample, the arrest report states.

At approximately 1:58 a.m. a judge granted a search warrant for three draws of blood. Bail: $1,861.
