Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Man with knife busted at football game
An 18 year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday night at 10:12 p.m. in the Carson High School parking lot for gross misdemeanor dangerous weapon possession on school grounds, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported, as well as for misdemeanor marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession.
According to the arrest report, Sheriff's deputies assigned to a football game at the high school responded to a report of a person carrying a gun in the north parking lot of Carson High School.
Three deputies arrived on scene and made contact with a group of juveniles inside of and standing around a vehicle. The subject in the driver's seat was removed from the vehicle and searched for weapons, the arrest report said.
During that search, a karambit knife was recovered from the subject's waist band. Juveniles sitting on the curb were yelling "the gun is in the car," and a black battery-powered airlift gun was recovered from the center console of the vehicle, the report said.
In addition, marijuana and a pipe were also found during the search for the gun. The suspect who was searched stated that the pipe belonged to him, but not the marijuana. He also stated some of the juveniles on scene, all 15 years or younger, were playing with the airsoft gun, the report said.
Because the airsoft gun was battery-powered, it did not meet the definition of a dangerous weapon, the report said, but the knife that was recovered on the suspect met the definition of a switchblade.
The suspect was subsequently handcuffed and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $2,500.
