34th annual Bowers Mansion Bluegrass Festival brings national, local musical blends
National and local bands converged on Bowers Mansion Saturday during the 34th annual Bowers Mansion Bluegrass Festival.
Attendees by the hundreds set up low-backed chairs, picnic blankets or simply laid down on the grass as an enticing lineup of bands took the stage.
Westwind performed at 12:45 p.m. with a soothing blend of folk and bluegrass that had participants clapping their hands to the rhythm.
Young’ns Showcase — Sevina & Sammy and Friends took over at 1:40 p.m. The group let their strings do the talking, as a pair of violins and an upright bass joined an acoustic guitar to make set an upbeat tempo.
Several booths, activities and food trucks were set up kept participants entertained throughout the day.
“Anytime you can get out in the sun and listen to some music you take it,” attendee Sharron Glennon said. “It’s a really great time.”
The music continues Sunday morning, as the festival wraps up with a non-denominational Gospel show with the Sunday Go to Meeting’ Band at the Davis Creek Amphitheater from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
