Video: Shooting Fire air attack above Carson City
Air drops continue on the Shooting Fire, which started at around 11 a.m. Sunday in southwest Carson City above the Carson Colony area along Curry Street, which had forced evacuations of several homes in the area. Those evacuations have since been lifted and Curry Street is now open.
Mandatory evacuations were put in place Sunday afternoon after the fire came within about 100 yards of structures west of Curry Street. As of 4 p.m. those evacuations were lifted and significant progress was made on the fire, said Carson City Fire Department spokeswoman Stacey Belt.
The has burned around 200 acres and is moving away from structures. No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation but it is believed to have been sparked from gunfire in the hills.
