Carson City and Lake Tahoe area road report through Aug. 17
Here is the Carson City area road report for Aug. 11-17. The inside lanes of N. Carson Street between Musser Street and Spear Street will be closed in both directions Monday through Wednesday evenings from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for street work.
The Nevada Department of Transportation will be continuing road work on US 50 from Arrowhead Drive in Carson City to Baldwine Lane in Mound House. There will be single lane closures on weeknights from 1 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. in the westbound direction and from 7 p.m. to 11 a.m. in the eastbound direction.
There will be work primarily in the shoulder of the following roads Monday through Friday. Minor delays are possible.
— Fifth Street from Hidden Meadow Drive to Fairview Drive.
— Hells Bells Road from Fifth Street to Parkhill Drive.
There will be utility work primarily in the street shoulder on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the following locations. Minimal delays are possible.
— Combs Canyon Road between Bobcat Circle and Lakeview Road
— Lakeview Road between Combs Canyon Road and Weise Road
— Bobcat Circle
W. Third Street will be closed between Carson Street and Curry Street during the following times due to special events.
— On Friday, August 15, from 1:30 p.m. to midnight.
— On Saturday, August 16, from 1 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
In Douglas County, Roadside continues on Kingsbury Grade, State Route 207 from Carson Valley to Stateline, Lake Tahoe. Work such as signage, utility and drainage improvements continues, with single lane closures and delays of up to 30 minutes during overnight hours through August.
Beginning Sept. 2 to October, Kingsbury Grade will be closed to through traffic near the summit, just east of Tramway Drive. During that time, non-permitted through traffic will not be able to travel through the Kingsbury summit area between Lake Tahoe and the Carson Valley. Residences and businesses located on Kingsbury Grade will continue to be accessible by U.S. 50 at Tahoe.
Elsewhere around Lake Tahoe and the Sierra from Aug. 10-16 are the following Caltrans projects: State Route 89 Work continues on a $41 million project in Placer County from Tahoma to "Y" junction with State Route 28 in Tahoe City on Lake Tahoe’s West Shore that will upgrade storm water drainage and treatment systems, add curb and gutter, resurface and realign the road, add new left-turn pockets and widen shoulders on a 9-mile stretch of the highway. Completion is expected in fall 2016.
State Route 89 (Placer County) from Wilson Avenue in Tahoma to Cathedral Drive in Tahoe City: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations around the clock from 10 p.m. Sunday to 10 a.m. Friday for paving, roadway excavation and gas line relocation work.
State Route 89 (Placer County): Work continues on a $4 million project from the "Y" junction of State Routes 28/89 in Tahoe City to Alpine Meadows Road making drainage and slope corrections on about a 4-mile stretch of Highway 89. Completion is expected this fall.
State Route 89 (Placer County) from the "Y" intersection to Alpine Meadows Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. Sunday through Friday for drainage work.
State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $20 million water-quality project from 0.1 mile north of the Eagle Falls Sidehill Viaduct No. 5 in Emerald Bay to the Meeks Creek Bridge in Meeks Bay. This project is adding new drainage features, curb and gutter, and resurfacing a nearly 7-mile stretch of the highway. Completion is expected in fall 2015.
State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from 4 Ring Road to 1 Ring Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday for grinding and paving work. Also, motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from Meeks Creek to Rubicon Glen Road from 10 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday and from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday for drainage work.
State Route 28 (Placer County): Work continues on Placer County’s $50 million Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project from State Route 267 to Chipmunk Street. The project will install curb and gutter, sidewalks, roundabouts and drainage systems to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility, improve safety and provide water-quality improvements. Completion is expected in fall 2015.
No traffic-interfering work is scheduled on the highway until after the Labor Day holiday weekend.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $12.1 million water-quality and roadway improvement project from the "Y" intersection of Highways 50 and 89 to the South Lake Tahoe Airport adding curb and gutter, sidewalks, new drainage systems and repaving the highway. Completion is expected this fall.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Jewell Road to the "Y" intersection: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 12:01 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday and from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday for profile grinding and striping.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $15.3 million water-quality project from Johnson Pass Road to Incline Road in Meyers to install new drainage systems, widen shoulders and add bike lanes in one section, and restore a section of the exiting bike path.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Johnson Pass Road to Sawmill Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 6 a.m. to noon Monday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to noon Friday for drainage work.
State Route 49 (Placer County) from the American River Bridge to the Ranger Station in the Auburn Ravine: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control 24/7 through August 12 for cement barrier work.
State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Ryan Drive to Commerce Way in Diamond Springs: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Saturday for electrical work.
State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Salmon Falls Cutoff Road to Bayley House Historic Park in Pilot Hill: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday for fence work.
State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Cave Valley Road to the junction with State Route 193 in Cool: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday for pavement work.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Smith Flat Road to Snow Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures around the clock from 4 p.m. Tuesday to 4 p.m. Thursday for bridge work.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Bal Bijou Road: Westbound motorists can expect the No. 2 lane closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to noon Friday for utility work.
