Nevada State Police identify Lyon County man in fatal US-50A crash
Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol division has identified a Lyon County man who died in the July 22 crash on US-50A near Inglewood Drive in Fernley.
Sergion Aquino-Almanza, 29, of Fernley, died at the scene of the single vehicle crash, reported to NHP at around 4:24 p.m. A juvenile passenger who was in the vehicle was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
NHP's preliminary investigation indicates that a silver 2018 Hyundai Tucson with two occupants, the driver and passenger, was traveling westbound on US50A, west of the intersection with Inglewood Drive. For reasons unconfirmed, the Hyundai departed the roadway and entered into the right dirt shoulder.
The left front of the Hyundai struck a light pole. The Hyundai overturned multiple times and the driver was ejected from the vehicle. The investigation indicates that the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to NHP.
The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Northern Command West Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating this crash.
