Carson City School Trustees to discuss additional salary increases, employment status policy changes and more Tuesday
The next Carson City School District School Board meeting will take place Tuesday Aug. 8 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Robert ‘Bob’ Crowell Board Room within the Carson City Community Center.
Public Comment will be accepted in person, or through virtual participation via email; publiccomment@carson.k12.nv.us no later than 12:30 p.m. the day of the meeting. Email for public comment must include the submitting party’s full name.
— Salary increase for administration not covered by association contracts will be discussed.
While educators recently received an increase in pay, those negotiations did not extend towards staff not covered by the union. A salary increase will be discussed for associate superintendents, directors, managers, and other employees for a possible fiscal impact of $416,181.
The increases would be broken into an 11 percent increase for 2024, and a 2 percent increase for 2025.
— A discussion and possible action will be held regarding proposed changes to employment status policy, which
Policy 405 deals with employment status, and is suggested to change a probationary period from 12 months to 6 months. In addition, a suggestion of changing the requirement for an evaluation report from 6 months to 3 months.
— An informational update will be provided regarding current staffing for the district.
— Trustees will discuss Nevada Association of School Boards nominations to be considered for recognition during the 2023 annual conference.
Nominations range from New School Board Member of the Year, School District Employee Making a Difference, Innovative Educator of the Year, Friend of K-12 Public Education, and more.
