Lyon County Sheriff's Office to hold National Night Out event Tuesday in Fernley
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office will celebrate National Night Out from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, at the Fernley Out of Town Park Gazebo. Similar law enforcement community events will be held in Carson City and August 8 in Virginia City.
LCSO encourages residents and families join them in the annual, free event that feature games, a free hot dog dinner to the first 100 guests courtesy of the city of Fernley, drone demonstrations, a Care Flight air ambulance demonstration, K9 demonstration, a Battle of the Badges blood drive and more.
The park is located on Farm District Road and Highway 50A.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that forges law enforcement and community partnerships through neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safe. The program enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community and provides opportunities to bring law enforcement and neighbors together in positive ways.
Elsewhere, Carson City will celebrate its own version with Sheriff's Night Out from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mills Park, 1111 E William St. Participants will find family friendly fun, obstacle courses, vehicles tours from multiple departments, all while getting their free hot dogs donated by Flocchini Sausage and cooked up by the Elks Lodge. The Storey County Sheriff's Office will celebrate Sheriff's Night Out on Tuesday, August 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at 106 Carson Street in Virginia City.
