Shooting death of woman at Dayton mobile home park investigated as homicide, says LCSO
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting death of a woman at a Dayton mobile home park on Monday as a homicide.
A man reportedly on scene of where the suspected homicide happened was taken to the hospital with what appears to be a self inflicted gunshot and is alive, according to LCSO Detective Sgt. Mike Messmann.
On Monday, July 18 at approximately 2:43 p.m. the Lyon County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the Dayton Valley Mobile Home Park located at 1000 Highway 50 East Dayton in reference to a suicidal subject.
Upon deputies' arrival, they discovered two subjects, an adult female who was subsequently declared deceased on scene and an adult male who was taken to the hospital for emergency medical care.
During the initial investigation it was determined the injuries present on the male subject appeared to be self-inflicted while the injuries present upon the deceased female subject appeared to be the result of a criminal act, according to a LCSO news release.
Upon making this determination, detectives from the Lyon County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Bureau initiated a homicide investigation.
LCSO notes this is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public. Any person who believe they may have information relevant to the investigation are encouraged to contact Detective Sergeant Mike Messmann at 775-577-5206, extension 3, and reference case number 22LYO2989.
