NHP arrests Reno man in gun-involved road rage incident
On Friday, July 12, 2019, at approximately 8:45 AM, NHP Troopers were dispatched to IR-80 and Vista Boulevard for a road rage incident and hit-and-run crash involving three vehicles.
It was reported that there were two vehicles involved in a road rage incident on IR-80 – a white 1993 Ford Tempo and a gold sedan with an unknown description.
The Ford Tempo improperly passed an uninvolved pickup truck traveling on the eastbound ramp on the inside shoulder. The driver of the Ford Tempo pointed a handgun in the air and racked the slide back, then struck the left side of the pickup truck with the vehicle and fled the scene.
Troopers located the Ford Tempo on Vista Boulevard. The driver was identified as Daniel William Swirsky, a 24-year-old Reno resident.
After an investigation, Swirsky was arrested and charged with the following: ex-felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful overtaking of a vehicle, duty to stop at a crash causing property damage, failure to render aid, and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit. He was booked into the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office jail.
A loaded Ruger handgun and brass knuckles with a folding 6” knife blade were located in the vehicle.
