Carson City weather: Gusty winds, low humidity prompt Red Flag warning through Monday
The National Weather Service in Reno has issued Red Flag fire weather warnings for western Nevada including Carson City and the eastern Sierra which are in effect on both Sunday and Monday.
Wind gusts of 30 to 35 mph are possible in the afternoons. Humidity will be in the low teens on Sunday and in the single digits on Monday.
Critical fire weather conditions may last over 6 to 9 hours on Monday, according to the weather service. The combination of gusty winds and low humidity can cause fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity before first responders can contain them, the weather service states. People to avoid outdoor activities that can cause a spark near dry vegetation, such as yard work, target shooting, or campfires.

Along with the haze from fires in the region, the weather service also advises that aAfternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected each day through mid-week.
A mix of wet and dry thunderstorms will be possible each day. Sunday is expected to bring gusty winds, brief heavy rainfall, and possibly small hail near any thunderstorms that develop. Be sure to watch for thunderstorms and heed any statements from the National Weather Service.
Daytime highs for Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas will be in the mid 90s Sunday and Monday and low 90s on Tuesday.
