Carson City arrests: Man causes $3,000 in damage to sheriff's patrol vehicle

A 24-year-old man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of gross misdemeanor destruction of city property, misdemeanor resisting a public officer with violence and domestic battery, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area of Table Rock Drive at 12:13 a.m. regarding reports of a battery. Deputies arrived and located a man run from a house toward the officer.

The officer asked the suspect what his name was and the man stated "F*** you," and then called the deputy "d*** head," the report states. He was handcuffed and advised he was being detained.

Deputies spoke with the suspect who said he had been drinking and had his keys taken away by family so that he wouldn't drink and drive. The man said he became upset by this and punched his step father in the jaw, the arrest report states. The male victim had a bloody nose and blood on his shirt. The suspect was arrested.

As deputies conducted the investigation they could hear the man screaming and kicking in the back seat of the patrol vehicle. Jail deputies were advised the man was being uncooperative. Arriving at jail he became physically aggressive with a deputy, attempting to spit on one, and then kicking at and swinging his arms at other deputies. The patrol vehicle had $3,000 in damage, the report states.

He was booked for suspicion of destruction of city property, resisting a public officer with violence and domestic battery. Bail: $6,774.

In other arrests:
— A 45-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 10:47 a.m. in the 1900 block of North Carson Street for two misdemeanor failure to appear warrants, driving on a suspended license and revoked or suspended registration. Bail: $3,759.

— A 36-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 2:34 a.m. in the area of King and Iris streets for misdemeanor criminal contempt. According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched the area of West Musser and Mountain streets to a possible residential burglary. While en route dispatched advised the subject had left the area and was walking northbound on Musser Street.

A responding deputy located the subject with a matching description. The man identified himself and said he was walking home from a bar. He had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Dispatch advised he was on Alternative Sentencing and had a "no alcohol" clause.

He provided a preliminary breath test of .215. The Department of Alternative Sentencing advised they wanted the man arrested for criminal contempt with a $500 cash only bail. He was arrested. Bail: $500.

— A 42-year-old Carson City man, Dylan Lee Claussen, was arrested Saturday, 8:21 p.m. in the 2200 block of East William Street for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of Department of Alternative Sentencing conditions.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area of a William Street casino in reference to a male subject passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle. Deputies arrived and observed the man in the driver seat slumped over the steering wheel. Deputies knocked loudly on the door and the man woke up. He appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance.

A drug detection canine did an exterior sniff of the vehicle and alerted positive. Inside the driver side door deputies located methamphetamine and a burnt plastic straw and burnt aluminum foil on the driver side floor board.

He was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Department of Alternative Sentencing added an additional charge of violation of conditions. Bail: $6,637.

On Saturday, April 20, Carson City Community Gardeners and the UNR Extension Master Gardeners came together to get the Community Garden ready for the growing season. For two hours they removed weeds, spread mulch and prepped their garden beds for the season.

In collaboration with Chartwells, the Carson City School District foodservice partner, Culinary Arts students from Ms. Tammy Borreman’s class at Carson Middle School competed in a “Discovery Kitchen Cook Off.” Similar to a mini version of the Food Network’s Iron Chef, the timed cooking competition featured teams of three students who prepared succulent dishes for a judging panel.

Six local bowlers were inducted in the third class of the Carson Country Bowling Association Hall of Fame at their annual meeting on Saturday, April 27, at HomeGrown Bowl. Carson Country is the local association of the U.S. Bowling Congress.
