Heat continues with a chance of thunderstorms
Hot weather and near-record temperatures will continue in Western Nevada and the Sierra this week, as a ridge of high pressure settles over the region early this week.
Some areas in western Nevada will reach triple digits again with many areas in the Sierra reaching the upper 80's to lower 90's. Carson City is forecast Sunday to reach 97 and 101 on Monday, with Tuesday around 99, according to the National Weather Service.
Moisture will move into the area during the week and bring the chance for thunderstorms. If clouds develop early enough in the day, temperatures may not get quite as high.
The red line in the graphs above show the current forecast high temperature and the black line indicates the record high temperatures. Records for Reno go back to 1888 and records for South Lake Tahoe go back to 1968.
