Carson City man jailed for allegedly pushing mom, stealing her purse
A 37-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday for misdemeanor domestic battery and being an ex-felon failing to register after allegedly pushing his mom after he took her purse, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, a deputy was dispatch at 8:57 a.m. to a motel room 1400 block of North Carson Street in reference to a domestic battery.
On scene the deputy made contact with two witnesses in a parking lot who advised the man had pushed his mother outside the motel room during an argument and then took off with his mother’s purse.
The arresting deputy made contact with the victim who’s stated her son has been living in the motel with her for the past four months. That morning he came into the room, woke her up and took her purse, the arrest report states.
The woman said she followed her son out of the motel room where he then pushed her out of the way before leaving the area. The victim stated when she was pushed it caused her to lose her balance, according to the report.
Dispatch advised the suspect was an ex-felon and was last registered at a motel in the 1700 block of North Carson Street.
Deputies located the man at the intersection of Long and Carson streets. He was arrested and taken to jail. Bail: $3,419.
In other arrests:
— A 35-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 8:15 p.m. in the 2200 block of East William Street for three misdemeanor failure to appear warrants, no proof of insurance and driving without a valid license.
According to the arrest report a deputy was traveling south on Russell Way when he observed a silver sedan without a rear license plate that drifted to the left and crossed a double yellow line.
The deputy performed a traffic stop. The driver advised he did not have a driver’s license or insurance for the vehicle but had a valid moving permit in his windshield. The officer checked the man’s identity through Carson City dispatch with a return of three confirmed warrants. He was arrested. Bail: $3,502.
— A 34-year-old Carson City man, John Mark Stephan, was arrested Monday, 6:39 p.m. in the 3200 block of Market Street for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, a sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report a deputy was dispatched to assist the Carson City Fire Department with an unconscious man in the parking lot. Security advised they were out with a man who had labored breathing, was unconscious and drooling on himself. Prior to arrival, Walmart staff was able to wake the man.
The deputy made contact with the man, who was disoriented and altered, his eyes were red and watery, his speech slurred and thick. The man claimed he fell asleep in his car waiting for his male friend who was shopping in the store.
The man denied using any controlled substance and gave deputies consent to search his vehicle. Deputies located a bag containing 14 hydrocodone pills and 30 alprazolam (Xanax) pills. He said they belonged to the male friend he was waiting for.
The arresting deputy also smelled alcohol on the man’s breath. He provided a preliminary breath test with a .147 and was arrested for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance. Bail: $2,500.
