Douglas County authorities arrest man on child pornography charges
A 55-year-old man was arrested June 26 on suspicion of several felonies including possession of child pornography after investigators found camera equipment inside the home of a victim, a Douglas County Sheriff's Office spokesman said.
Michael Joseph Donovan was booked into Douglas County Jail on $50,015 bail and remains in custody as of Monday night. According to Sgt. Pat Brooks, Donovan went to the home of a family friend and allegedly planted a cell phone equipped with a camera inside a bathroom, capturing an image of the private area of another person.
The female juvenile victim discovered the camera and told her mother, said Brooks.
Douglas County sheriff’s deputies responded and met with the victim and her family. After collecting the phone as evidence, Deputies and investigators responded to Donovan’s address, where he was arrested.
Charges also include burglary and use of the internet to control visual presentation depicting sexual conduct of a person under 16 years of age. Investigators are still actively working this case.
He is scheduled to appear in East Fork Justice Court on July 2.
