Celebrate Independence Day early at Fort Churchill State Historic Park
SILVER SPRINGS, Nev. – Celebrate Independence Day a few days early on Sunday, July 1 with traditional games, homemade toys and crafts, sweet treats from the 1800s and live music performed by the Reno Schnitzels Oompah Band.
Activities for all ages will include: Sack races, three-legged races, quoits (ring toss), bean bag toss, watermelon seed spitting contest and hand-cranked ice cream. Bring a blanket and a picnic lunch, and plan to spend the afternoon enjoying the park.
WHEN: Sunday, July 1, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
WHERE: Fort Churchill State Historic Park. Fort Churchill is located 8 miles south of the Highway 95A/Highway 50 intersection on Highway 95A at 10000 Highway 95A, Silver Springs, Nev.
COST: Park entrance fees apply, $5.00 per vehicle. There is no additional cost to participate in the event.
