Carson City deputies make DUI, domestic battery arrests during weekend

A 48-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Monday in the area of East William and State streets for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and speeding, a sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, a deputy using radar confirmed a Dodge pickup was speeding in a posted 25 mph zone in the area of William and Stewart streets.

The deputy conducted a traffic stop and observed the driver had an odor of alcohol coming from his person, red eyes and slurred speech.

He denied to consuming any alcoholic beverage and said what the officer was smelling was from two other occupants in the vehicle, the arrest report states.

The driver agreed to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment on two of the tests. He was arrested at 12:10 a.m. for suspicion of DUI.

At jail he provided evidentiary blood samples. He also faces a charge of basic speeding, 1-10 mph. Bail: $1,229.

— A 24-year-old Dayton man was arrested Sunday, 9:46 p.m. in the 1400 block of La Loma Drive for a misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrant issued June 8, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.

— A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, also at 9:46 p.m. in the 1400 block of La Loma Drive for a Department of Alternative Sentencing violation and being an intoxicated pedestrian.

DAS wanted the man arrested due to violating the “no alcohol” clause on his conditions, the arrest report states. He provided a preliminary breath test of .253. Bail: $3,072.

— A 65-year-old Sparks man was booked into Carson City Jail on Sunday, 3 p.m. for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued May 7, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.

— An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 4:05 a.m. in the area of Minnesota and Nevada streets for misdemeanor suspicion of obstructing or resisting an officer and being under 21 years of age in possession of marijuana.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to a house party attended by several juveniles in the 1100 block of South Curry Street. As deputies arrived several juveniles began to run from or hide inside the residence.

Deputies set up a perimeter and were informed several subjects were let seen heading west of the residence. A deputy went over to 10th Street attempting to locate the subjects.

The deputy observed five subjects and ordered them to stop. The subjects began to run. The deputy was able to grab one them and took him to the ground. He was arrested and read his Miranda warning.

The deputy asked why he ignored the order to stop. The suspect told the deputy “I just wasn’t thinking,” the arrest report states. During a search, the officer located a small baggie of marijuana in his front left pants pocket. Bail: $1,149.

— An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 4:49 a.m. in the area of Curry and Lake Glen for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI drugs, minor consuming marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, open container, minor in possession of alcohol and driving without headlamps.

According to the arrest report, a deputy observed a black Toyota sedan traveling southbound on Curry Street from 10th Street without having its headlights activated.

A deputy made contact with the driver who had red watery eyes and appeared very lethargic, the arrest report states. The officer could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The deputy asked the man how much he had to smoke. The man advised not very much. He was asked to submit to field sobriety tests and show signs of impairment, the arrest report states. Based on the deputy’s observation the man was arrested for suspicion of DUI.

During inventory of the man’s vehicle deputies located several open containers of alcohol, several unopened containers of alcohol, a bong with marijuana residue and a grinder with marijuana in it. Bail: $3,799.

— A 26-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 4:41 a.m. in the area of South Curry and West 10th Street for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI.

According to the arrest report, a deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle during an investigation into a noise complaint call.

The deputy observed the vehicle had a flat tire and abrasion marks on the hub cap. The deputy asked the driver if she had been in an accident. The driver said she had not.

She was asked if she had been drinking earlier in the evening. The woman replied she had been at a bar. She was asked if she would perform field sobriety tests. She agreed and showed signs of impairment. She consented to a preliminary breath test with a reading of .315, the arrest report states. She was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Bail: $1,137.

— A 42-year-old Buena Park, Calif., man was arrested Sunday, 1 a.m. in the area of Saliman and Damon streets for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and open container.

According to the arrest report, a deputy responded to a report of a possible DUI driver traveling north on Carson Street from Douglas County.

The deputy located the vehicle and followed it, observing that it had its blinker light on without conducting a turn, was traveling 15 in a posted 25 mph on Hillview from Koontz; that it was weaving within the travel lane making contact with the right white line twice and the left yellow line once.

The weaving pattern continued as the driver traveled north on Saliman between the intersections of Kingsley and Sonoma.

The deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver who denied any recent consumption of alcoholic beverages. He stated he was driving from southern California to Carson City and was extremely tired from driving all day, the arrest report states.

The man smell of an alcoholic beverage as he spoke with the officer and had slurred speech. He agreed to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment and provided a preliminary breath test of .124.

He was arrested for suspicion of DUI. During inventory of the vehicle a deputy located an open bottle of tequila in the center console, the arrest report states. At jail he provided evidentiary breath samples of .117 and .122. Bail: $1,329.

— A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 8 p.m. in the area of Clear Creek and South Carson Street for misdemeanor failure to appear warrant, driving on a suspended driver’s license, driving with expired registration, no proof of insurance and having an improper license plate display. Bail: $2,340.

— A 28-year-old Carson City woman arrested Saturday, 8:20 a.m. in the 1700 block of Russell Way for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery.

According to the arrest report, the woman allegedly bit the victim during an altercation. Deputies spoke with the suspect who was highly intoxicated and asked for her side of the story.

She told the deputy the victim hit her on the head with a phone. The officer then spoke with the victim who said the suspect hit her while wrestling over the phone. The victim had a 4 inch by 3 inch bite mark that showed signs of bruising and was red and swollen, the arrest report states. The suspect did not have any injuries. Bail: $3,137.

— A 29-year-old homeless man was arrested Saturday in the area of West Spear and North Curry streets for suspicion of misdemeanor temporary protection order violation.

According to the arrest report, the victim, who is the father of the suspect, has a temporary protection order against his son. The son allegedly was at the victim’s motel room residence and was yelling and physically fighting with the father.

Deputies located the suspect at the corner of North Curry and West Spear streets. The suspect said he thought his father took care of the TPO against him. Bail: $3,000.

On May 15th, 2024, shortly after midnight, deputies with the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence located on the 600 block of Angela Street in Fernley, Nev., reference a caller who reported that he had murdered his mother. The caller additionally provided that he barricaded himself inside the house, was armed with a rifle, and had planted pipe bombs at the residence.
