Carson City sheriff's deputies make weekend arrests for suspected domestic battery, DUI

A 29-year-old man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of domestic battery, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

At 9:21 p.m. CCSO deputies responded to a residence for a domestic battery call. Dispatch advised the victim's fiancé pushed her into the bathtub.

Deputies arrived and spoke with the two who had been at Lake Tahoe earlier and had been consuming alcohol. The two got into an argument where the victim said the man punched her in the face while they were driving back to Carson City.

While speaking with the woman, the officer observed her upper lip was swollen and appeared to be cut, the report states. The victim explained that when they arrived in Carson City, the man pulled the car over and told her to get out of the vehicle. The woman called a friend who later arrived and took her back home.

The woman stated she got home and took her child to the bathroom to give him a bath before bed and to care for her lip.

She said the fiancé began yelling and demanding she return his phone to him. She said his phone was in a beach bag that was in the bathroom. She said the door was locked and the man forced his way inside, swinging the door open, which hit her, knocking her into the bathtub. She said the man laughed at her before walking out of the room. She then called dispatch for help.

A deputy observed the door from to the bathroom was broken and wood on the floor, indicating it was recently broken. The officer took photos of the door frame and injuries to the woman before going and speaking with the man.

The man stated he never touched the woman but said she was the one hitting him. The deputy did not see any injuries to the man while speaking with him. He said he never went into the bathroom and didn't know how the door got broken. He was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.

Every year throughout our region, pets are found dead in cars due to heat exhaustion, including those with windows cracked.

With outside temperatures often in the 90s and above, internal car temperatures can reach anywhere from 114 degrees after 10 minutes, to 140 degrees after an hour. Cracking a window often does nothing at all as rolling down the windows has been shown to have little effect on the temperature inside a car, according to the Humane Society of the U.S.
