Pro racers converge on State Capitol for annual Epic Rides Carson City Off Road
Hundreds of riders and bicycle enthusiasts cruised through downtown Carson City during the third annual Epic Rides Carson City Off Road mountain bike racing circuit Saturday.
The Capital 50 backcountry race kicked-off the weekend festivities at 7:30 a.m. while the Capital 35 backcountry race followed at 8:15 a.m
This year's race route through the downtown Carson City business district takes riders from the starting line at Musser and North Carson Street, next to the State Capitol complex, up West Second to Nevada streets, then West King Street up Kings Canyon Road to Longview Drive through west side neighborhoods to the Ash Canyon trailhead.
Live music, delicious food, and various activities will take place throughout the event, including an open beer garden from 10 a.m.- 9 p.m. and awards party at 4 p.m., both courtesy of the Four Peaks Brewing Company.
Pro racing picks up again Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. with the start of the Backcountry Race, scheduled to conclude around 2 p.m. The men leave first at 8:30 a.m., followed by women racers at 8:40 a.m.
The Kids Fun Ride begins shortly afterward at 8:45 a.m. Sunday morning.
