Carson City Sheriff's Office announces upcoming alcohol compliance check
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office will conduct a compliance check in which minor decoys will be sent into local businesses that have liquor licenses.
The decoys will attempt to purchase alcohol, using their real identification and dressing how they normally dress. The Carson City Sheriff's Office will focus on businesses checking identification properly and denying the sale of alcohol to minors. The compliance check will be on Friday, June 16, 2017, according to a news release.
Businesses failing the last compliance check will be re-visited, according to the news release. The Carson City Sheriff's Office goal is to have 100 percent compliance and have no alcohol being sold to the underage decoys.
School has been out for around two weeks. The Carson City Sheriff's Office wants local youth to have a safe and sober summer, which means making alcohol difficult or impossible for kids to obtain, the release states.
These checks are designed to help keep juveniles safe and businesses in compliance with county and state laws, according to the release.
"If you’re working in a position where you sell alcohol, please remember to check identification when selling and to purchase alcohol you must be born on or before the day of the sale in 1996," the release states.
