Carson City jail inmate admits to stashing pills in mitt while doing janitorial work
A 33-year-old female inmate at Carson City Jail faces a gross misdemeanor charge of possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription after pills were located in her belongings, a sheriff's deputy said.
According to the arrest report, on Tuesday deputies did a search of the woman's jail issued tub and located an unlabeled prescription bottle with 13 pills. All three types of medications found in the bottle are available by prescription only.
The woman, who was assigned janitorial duties at the Carson City Sheriff's Office Administration Building, admitted to having a person drop the pills, cigarettes, a lighter and family photos into a trash can in front of the Carson City Sheriff's Office. When she completed her duties she placed the pills in a mitt that was used to wash patrol vehicles and took them back to her living area. Bail: $2,500.
In other arrests:
— A 21-year-old transient who was booked at Carson City Jail faces a gross misdemeanor battery charge after allegedly hitting a deputy. The incident happened June 6 at 3:11 p.m. as CCSO deputies were escorting an inmate from a booking cell to a safety cell.
The man attempted to run from law enforcement. Deputies tried to stop him and the man resisted, striking the jail deputy twice with his right fist to the right side of the deputy's head.
The man faces a gross misdemeanor charge of battery on a protected person. Bail: $2,500.
— A 37-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday, 8:26 p.m. in the 500 block of College Parkway for breach of peace. According to the arrest report, the woman was belligerent, intoxicated, yelling and cussing at adults and children in the neighborhood. She submitted to a preliminary breath test with a result of .391 and was taken to the hospital for medical clearance and then to jail. Bail: $192.
— A 49-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday, 7:11 p.m. in the area of William and Saliman for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and driving down the center lane for more than 200 feet.
According to the arrest report a deputy conducted a traffic stop on an SUV for traveling 200 feet or more in the center lane on William Street.
The deputy noticed an odor of alcohol coming from her breath as she spoke. Her speech was also slurred, the arrest report states. She admitted to having consumed alcohol and voluntarily agreed to standardized field sobriety tests where she showed signs of impairment. She provided a breath sample of .208 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. She provided evidentiary blood tests at the Carson City Detention Center. Bail: $1,269
— A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday in the area of Fairview and 5th streets for multiple misdemeanor charges including a failure to appear warrant, driving with a suspended license, having fictitious registration, no proof of insurance and improper display of a license plate. Bail: $1,913.
