Carson City detectives, SET arrest three related to the recent inmate escape
Carson City Sheriff's Office detectives and the Special Enforcement Team arrested three Tuesday night on drug charges in connection to an inmate who escaped the Carson City Detention Center earlier that morning, a CCSO sheriff's captain said.
Arrested were Rumor Schilling, 23. She faces charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and false statements, obstructing. CCSO also arrested twin brothers Jonathan and Gene Crandell 28, for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Just before 6 a.m. Tuesday, Carson City jail inmate Michael Bass, who was a work crew inmate, escaped from custody. During the investigation Rumor Schilling was identified as a person of interest. On Tuesday night she, along with three men were located in a hotel room in the 1300 block of North Carson Street, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Capt. Brian Humphrey.
Bass remains at large.
Rumor and two of the males, Gene and Jonathan Crandell, were arrested with a fourth suspect being released with pending charges. Investigators searched two additional locations in the 1600 block of North Carson Street finding several individuals who are cooperating with law enforcement and providing information.
Later in the night with the assistance from the Reno Police Department, Carson City Detectives searched a location on Golden Valley Road in Reno. While evidence revealed that Michael Bass had been at some of the locations he was not located, said Humphrey.
This investigation a high priority and remains active with numerous locations under surveillance. Additional charges on those already arrested are being considered with several other individuals, including family members, possibly facing criminal charges as this case develops, said Humphrey. Anyone providing assistance to Michael Bass or concealing his whereabouts will be arrested on appropriate charges.
