Carson City sheriff's SET team arrest two on felony drug charges

A 21-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday on a felony charge of suspicion of maintaining a house where drugs are sold, used or both, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

Officers with the Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team arrested Stacy Babb at a Jeanell Drive apartment where several had complained about recent drug activity going on. Her bail was set at $21,137.

When officers arrived Babb was at the apartment along with two other men. Deputies found paraphernalia and drug residue inside the home. The woman at first admitted to having drugs and doing drugs in the home with others, but recanted the statement, the arrest report states.

The home did not have any functioning electricity and was in disarray, consistent with complaints that the apartment was being used primarily for narcotics use, the arrest report states. The woman had also been served with an eviction notice for failure to pay rent.

An 18-year-old man, Michael Carpenter, was arrested at the apartment on felony suspicion of possession of methamphetamine after deputies found the drug wrapped in tinfoil inside his pocket. Bail: $2,500.

In other arrests:
A 30-year-old Chewelah, Wash., man was arrested Friday on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI at 2:56 a.m. in the 2600 block of College Parkway, a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy said.

According to the arrest report, officers responded to the 1500 block of College Parkway after dispatch learned from a reporting witness of a possible drunk driver failing to maintain their travel lane.

Officers observed a white truck pulled over and then made a u-turn and turned left onto College Parkway using the marked straight travel lane. The vehicle continued eastbound, crossing over the lane change line and solid line several times, the report said.

The sheriff's deputy initiated a traffic stop and spoke with driver, explaining why they made the traffic stop. The officer could smell an odor of alcohol coming from the driver, who admitted to having consumed one beer earlier.

The man submitted to a preliminary breath test with failed results. He was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and failure to maintain lanes of travel. He chose to have a blood sample taken at jail. Bail: $1,224.

— A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested June 12, 9:30 a.m. in the 3300 block of Imperial Drive on a misdemeanor charge of violation of a suspended sentence. He was intoxicated while being on Alternative Sentencing with a "no alcohol" clause. The man had a preliminary breath test of .118, according to the arrest report.

Those jailed and facing criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
