Eyes on Carson City: Capital City Brewfest
Hundreds crowded North Carson Street in downtown Carson City Saturday evening for the return of the Capital City Brewfest, a celebration of beer and a major scholarship fundraiser for the Carson City Rotary Club.
Brewfest inaugurated in 2016. It was so successful that the Rotary Club brought it back again this year. The event originally started out approximately 7 years ago as the Beer and Pizza Championships. Those events were the start of the anual Brewfest, said The Fox Brewpub owner Jim Phalan.
2016 was the first time the event had changed to an outside venue and adopting the name of the original Capital City Brewfest held on Main Street back in 2013, said Phalan.
More than 1,000 people attended last year's Brewfest, and Carson City Rotary surpassed its fundraising goal.
More than two dozen breweries from all over Northern Nevada and California set up their tents on North Carson Street, between Second and Fourth streets.
