Carson City unveils new web portal for accessing city map data
Carson City Public Works has unveiled a new portal for accessing the City's map data. MapGeo is an online interactive mapping application that uses Carson City's geographic information system (GIS) to provide the latest property information and other map layers to staff and citizens.
MapGeo supports all modern web browsers (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari, and Firefox) on both desktop computers and mobile devices. According to Carson City's Asset Manager, Matthew Lawton, "MapGeo is a real step forward for the City to get spatial information out to our staff and citizens in a timely and accurate manner."

There are currently dozens of map layers available for citizens to browse and use. The data in MapGeo is regularly updated from the City's GIS database. MapGeo is a powerful tool for searching parcel data and accessing property assessment information. It also provides direct integration with Google StreetView allowing users to query property data while exploring images of Carson City's streets. Carson City's MapGeo can be accessed on all devices at www.carson.org/mapgeo.
Carson City Public Works is comprised of multiple divisions including the operations divisions of Streets, Water, Sewer, Storm Water, Wastewater, Environmental and Landfill. It also includes the Engineering Division that oversees all Capital Projects; the Transportation Division, which includes RTC, JAC, and CAMPO; and the Utility Billing Division.
