Carson Valley Days returns this weekend for 113th year; US-395 closed along parade route
Carson Valley Days is back for its 113th year this weekend in Gardnerville with a theme of “Aloha, Carson Valley!”
The event is hosted each year by the Carson Valley Active 20-30 Club, and will take place June 8 - 11 at Lampe Park in Gardnerville.
Events span the weekend and include live music, family-friendly games, crafts, vendor booths, and more.
The Carson Valley Days Parade takes place Saturday Morning, traveling from downtown Minden into Gardnerville.
The Carson Valley Days Carnival begins Thursday and continues through Sunday. Tickets can be purchased at Accolades Trophies, Raley’s and the Nevada State Bank for Friday - Sunday, and wristbands for Buddy Night, which takes place Thursday evening, will be sold at the carnival itself.
There are a number of activities across the weekend including craft fairs, food trucks, games, horseshoe tournaments, raffles, and much more.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is preparing for the upcoming Carson Valley Days celebration.
Due to the high volume of traffic within the Minden/Gardnerville town areas, law enforcement urges motorists to use extra precautions when traveling through the towns and to plan ahead if traveling across town prior to the parade.
As a reminder, US Highway 395 from Buckeye Road to Waterloo Lane will be closed Saturday, June 10 from approximately 8-11 a.m. for the Carson Valley Days Parade. There will be an alternate route clearly marked for motor vehicles passing through south and northbound US Highway 395. All surface streets between Buckeye Road and Waterloo lane will have closed access to US Highway 395. No vehicles will be allowed to park along the parade route.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office notes that extra deputies will be assigned to several levels of enforcement during the parade and activities following. Safety is everyone’s responsibility. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Nevada State Police will both have a presence at the parade.
Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is asking parade-goers to:
— Please stay out of the road and on the sidewalks as to not interfere with the parade route.
— Maintain possession of your cell phone, wallet, and other valuables and don’t leave them in your car.
— Dress for the weather and be cautious of the heat.
— Be courteous and aware of flaggers and Citizen Patrol Volunteers.

Don’t risk harming others and losing your license, your car, and your freedom. Plan before you start drinking. Designate a sober driver, call a friend, take cab, or use a ride-share app, or you’ll be taking a ride straight to jail. Remember: You Drink and Drive. You lose.
