Hundreds return to work at Carson City's Casino Fandango
Casino Fandango, the largest casino in Carson City, opened its doors at 8 a.m. today. As announced by Gov. Steve Sisolak, Phase 2 of Nevada's Roadmap to Recovery allows gaming to resume Thursday.
Nevada's economy was one of the most affected in the country during the COVID-19 pandemic; the initial reopening of Casino Fandango means that over 350 team members are able to go back to work and provide for their families.
Duke's Steakhouse opened on May 22, but now additional restaurants will reopen, with the exception of the Rum Jungle Buffet and Shinsen Sushi. As activities resume, guests and Team Members will enjoy upgrades to the property including new kitchen floors and bar countertops, as well as a deep cleaning of the entire facility.
The Courtyard by Marriott Carson City has been open throughout the closure and remains open with extra cleaning and safety measures being observed. The Galaxy Theater multiplex is closed but is expected to open in July.
For guests seeking their favorite slot titles and themes, all machines will be turned on and ready to play, with seating removed to accommodate proper social distancing protocol.
Prior to opening, every Casino Fandango Team Member received additional training on the guidelines established by the CDC, the health department, and the Nevada Gaming Control Board. In addition, daily health screenings and temperature checks will be required for all employees. Color-coded screening wristbands, that will change daily, will be issued to screened Team Members.
Masks are required for all Team Members and frequent hand washing requirements have been set in place. For Team Members working in food and beverage areas gloves will be mandatory and any Team Member or guest who isn’t feeling well will be asked to return when they feel better.
Guests will have their temperature checked with non-invasive infrared thermometers at entrances and free masks will be made available, but use will be optional for guests.
“We are so excited to welcome our employees and guests back to Casino Fandango. We have taken this time to make improvements to our facility, come up with new recipes for our award-winning restaurants and plan exciting promotions for the upcoming months. We are committed to offering all of this in the safest environment possible,” says Court Cardinal, Casino Fandango President/General Manager.
Other precautionary efforts that are part of the Welcome Back to Winning program include:
— Physical distancing at all games, restaurants, and in all areas where lines from, floor distance markings will be used to indicate proper spacing.
— Additional hand sanitizer stations have been added.
— Increased cleaning and sanitizing will be done throughout the property, especially in high-contact areas.
