April gaming revenue climbs in Carson City, falls at Lake Tahoe
Carson City area casinos saw gaming revenues increase by 1.51 percent in April, according to figures released Wednesday by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
Casinos in Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville and all others except for those at Stateline Lake Tahoe that make up the Carson Valley area, report an overall gaming profit of $8,001,991 for the month of April compared to $7,883,290 in April 2013.
Casinos at Stateline in Douglas County saw a gaming revenue drop of 42.27 percent, the worst performing area in the state, taking in $9,080,729 in gaming win revenue for the month. The loss in revenue is largely due to the April 1 closure of the Horizon Casino Resort for renovations.
Elsewhere casinos in Reno saw gaming revenue decline of 1.54 percent, Sparks, 1.6 percent, and North Lake Tahoe, 2.92 percent. Casinos in Wendover had the best gaming profits for April, seeing a 4.31 increase over April 2013 figures, taking in $7,379,330.
Overall nonrestricted gaming licensees in Nevada reported a total gaming revenue of $852 million for the month of April 2014, a 0.27 percent decrease compared to April 2013, when licensees reported a gaming win of $854.2 million. For the fiscal year (July 1, 2013 through April 30, 2014), gaming win has increased 1.45 percent.
