Historic railroad begins 2022 season Memorial Day weekend with trips between Virginia City and Gold Hill

The Virginia Truckee Railroad begins its 47th season on Saturday, May28, 2022. Steam locomotive engine number 29 will be running roundtrips from Virginia City to Gold Hill on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday May 28-30. This 35-minute ride runs seven times each day, beginning at 10:30am.

Memorial Day Flag Placement happening Friday at Carson City's Lone Mountain Cemetery

Chapter 7 of the Disabled American Veteran's will once again host the Memorial Day Flag placement at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

The placement will occur on Friday, May 27 at 4 p.m. Recovery will be the following Monday, May 30 at 4 p.m.

Welcome To The Cirque: Student Showcase

Held at the Carson City Community Center at 7 p.m., 'Welcome to the Cirque' is going to be a fantastic display of dance routines from Ayako’s Dance Studio, acrobatic routines from Silver State Gymnastics, and circus acts of aerial silks, pole and lyra from Yaple’s Ballroom.

A Memorial Day ceremony will be held Memorial Day, Monday, May 30 to pay tribute in recognition of fallen Native American war veterans who have died. The event is presented by the 630 Silverstate Marine Corps League Detachment of Carson City.

Memorial Day Book Sale in Silver City

The Silver City Volunteer Library and the Silver City Preservation Society is hosting the First Annual Memorial Day Book Sale on Monday, May 30. A huge variety of genres and titles will be available including art books, cook books, fiction, non fiction, children's and young adult books, DIY, field guides, history, biographies and much more. Refreshments will also be served.

A 40-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of carrying a concealed knife without a permit, a gross misdemeanor offense, and misdemeanor disturbing the peace, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
